Sage and I were sitting at the table when she announced in a concerned tone that the clock was broken.
I looked but the time was correct, so went back to my work.
A few minutes later: "Papa, the clock is broken." Again, the time was still correct and nothing was visibly amiss with the clock so I made some reassuring noises and went back to work.
Then I looked at the wall again and realized she was right.
"What's broken in the clock, sage?"
"The red hand is broken papa."
And of course she was right. The hour and minute were fine but the second hand had stopped. I suppose that to her the spinning red hand was essential to the clock, not the relatively meaningless (for a two year old at least) hour and minute hands.
Sage serving us "coffee" and "milk" in little ceramic sake cups.
Me (wanting to distract her and go get her things ready for school):
"Sage, why don't you drink some tea with your wa-wa*?"
Sage (glancing and the dolls and thinking for a moment):
"No, papa. They don't like tea. It is too hot. You drink."

Sage suddenly proclaimed she had an owie on her leg, pulled open the freezer, found a bag of frozen vegetables, and held it on her knee. Ten seconds later she announced her owie was 'all better', returned the veggies to cold storage and skipped off.

Reading Curious George this morning, Sage turned suddenly and, in her best Perry Mason impression, jabbed her finger into my shoulder saying "you like racoons, don't you."
