The lowdown on the delivery:
* Yes, we’re early. 39 weeks, so not too bad. Dr. wanted us to come in due to placenta aging.
* We came in at 7:30 am, Valentine’s Day morning. Bee was induced at 8am and she was in labor for ten hours. At about the six hour mark she had an epidural after enduring a good deal of painful contractions. Ah, the wonders of modern medicine.
* Pushing took about twenty minutes in total and resulted in a wide eyed little girl. When Sage’s heart beat dropped midway through pushing, Dr. Lam assisted with some suction to get her out quickly. This gave her a little top knot for a while.
* Bee was a super star throughout the show. I swear she was smiling even during the painful contractions and didn’t even crack a sweat. Don’t tell Bee, but I think I’ve got a crush on her.
* As for Sage: Not a lot of crying at first, lots of looking around. Seemed to really dig her first bath and didn’t fuss a bit.
* Vital stats: 3.0kg/6 lbs 10 oz. 47.5cm/19 inches. Dark hair, dark brown eyes. Big nose, full lips, huge earlobes. Looks like Bee from the eyes up, Ethan from the nose down. I’m hoping this means she has’ Bee’s brains
We’re thrilled and speechless! I expect Sage to make up for our speechlessness shortly!
We are so happy for all of you. What a great blessing for the New Year. See you much later!
